Watch & Learn: Material report with floor, wall & ceiling areas (Excel export in m²) | pCon.planner PRO

How can materials in interior design projects be better identified, compared, and documented? Our tutorial video guides you step by step through the feature in pCon.planner 8.13: learn how to identify materials directly on surfaces, access detailed information from the pCon.catalog, and export a complete material report as an Excel file. A hands-on overview for everyone who plans, designs, and calculates with materials — from the first idea to the final project delivery.

Design Doesn’t End with Furniture

For many planners and interior designers, materials — whether wallpaper, paint, ceiling panels, or flooring — are key to defining a room’s atmosphere, functionality, and budget.
Yet in daily practice, uncertainty often arises: Which manufacturer is behind the carpet? How many square meters of parquet have been planned? And what technical details does the material include?

Identify Materials at a Glance

A quick mouseover is all it takes: the pCon.planner now displays which material is applied to a surface — including the manufacturer’s name. Whether it’s linoleum from Dencon, carpet from Dekorian Home, or wall paint from Lande — material information is instantly available.

When OFML products such as tables or sofas are included, the system automatically prioritizes the product itself, not the applied material. This ensures a clear and consistent information structure throughout the project.

Additional Information from the pCon.catalog

The Material Editor goes even further: here you can view detailed manufacturer data provided via the pCon.catalog — including product descriptions, series names, or technical specifications.
The expandable description panel, which slides up from the bottom, offers quick access to this information. A single click on the direct link takes you back to the pCon.catalog portal, where you can explore or replace materials from the same manufacturer.

Material Report: Transparency in Numbers

For the first time, materials can now also be evaluated quantitatively. Via File → Export → Building Information, pCon.planner PRO users can generate a Material Report in Excel format. After selecting one or more areas, all relevant data are compiled automatically:

  • Total surface areas for ceilings, walls, and floors
  • Material lists with names, series, and — where available — direct links to the pCon.catalog
  • Visual representations of the selected areas
  • Gross and net area details (including and excluding wall elements)

This makes it easy to see how many square meters of carpet, parquet, or wall finish are used in a project — and from which manufacturer they come. The values contained in the report serve as orientation and may differ from measurements taken on site.

More Confidence for Planning and Calculation

For interior designers and project planners, this means greater clarity, transparency, and reliability throughout the planning process — from material selection to evaluation.
The Material Report provides a solid informational basis, facilitates communication with clients and partners, and strengthens the commercial foundation for calculations and quotations.
